It's a fantastic piece of kit that can easily add that extra special sense of drama and of professionalism and lifts the 'quality' of the shots in a way that simple panning can't do.

Tracking across a static shot such as an interview transforms the mundane into something visually compelling. Using the glidetrack to 'lift' a shot out of the ordinary (or just plain dull), is a great way to keep things fresh, interesting and above all, slick and professional.

Being lightweight and easy to set up, it's great to take anywhere for a job, and for such a small and unobtrusive piece of kit, its positive effect on the end result of a shoot is immense.

The Glidetrack compact is a great little device that gave me a really simple way of getting a simple dolly move without having to set up my whole dolly and track. It just went on top of my miller head and I fixed a manfrotto head from my monopod onto the top. I used it the first reading in this video and in about 6 different shots in the finished film. It looks great, works really well and is incredibly light.

What I like about the Glidetrack is that it allows me to walk around with a fairly portable set-up and grab dolly style shots in places that just wouldn't be practical with a normal dolly and rails rig. When using the Glidetrack you suddenly find that your surroundings offer a lot more possibilities, walls, rails, steps, and even the odd wheelie bin have become camera supports in my work and each have provided shots that can give your films that pro look without splashing out on a full dolly rig.
