THE BLACK LIGHT WARRIORS – BEHIND THE SCENE – FSTOPPERS CONTEST from Julius Ise on Vimeo.
Following on from James and Edmund’s blog for the BTS competition with Fstoppers were we contacted by another finalist who thought that you’d like to see their video also. Please watch Julius Ise’s video with a few words of wisdom from the man himself.
My name is Julius Ise and I‘m a professional photographer from Germany. Since there is a possibility to do great filming with DSLRs, my team and I are also doing video productions for clients and, of course, for ourselves.
One product we bring to every video shoot is the Glidetrack Shooter SD. We use the 0.75-meter version which gives us great opportunities for camera movement and is also easy for transportation.
This time we did a behind-the-scene video of one of my photo shoots. Because of the shootings theme, we were using UV spotlights instead of normal flashes or hot light. The models were styled and painted with special fluorescent colours. In order to take these pictures, the whole studio had to be dark.
In the pitch dark studio, where we couldn’t even see our feet, our only possibility for some camera movement was the Glidetrack Shooter SD mounted on a Manfrotto tripod with the Manfrotto
501 head. With this video we entered the fstoppers.com behind the scene video contest and are now one of the twelve finalists.
Glidetrack Competition Winner

Congratulations to our $750 Glidetrack voucher competition prize draw winner Karen Bennison, and to Andrew Winchell for his film Devastated. Voted for by you as the top Glidetrack featured video!
Andrew has been kind enough to provide a few words for us in response to the good news:
“I’m so excited and honored to have won the Glidetrack contest! I’ve owned a Glidetrack Shooter for over a year now and it has changed the way I shoot. Moving the camera in a smooth and controlled way is a powerful storytelling tool. In my film Devastated, the Glidetrack slider allowed me to give a sense of depth to an otherwise static image. I believe this was very helpful in engaging viewers in feeling the utter destruction and human tragedy that was a result of the tornado.
Thanks to everyone who voted. I enjoyed seeing the other top 20 videos – there were definitely some great ones in the line-up. With over 4,000 films on Vimeo that have made use of Glidetrack sliders, that is a strong testament to the quality of the products and their usefulness in filmmaking. Thanks so much to the Glidetrack team for hosting this contest. I will continue to use my slider in the future to further the quality and storytelling in my future films. You can stay up with my work here: www.vimeo.com/awvideo”.
We had an overwhelming response to the competition, and the vote count was very close to find the top three from our short list, and again voting was incredibly close in the final heat.
If you missed it you can check out Andrew’s winning short film right here.
